Vocalise-Étude

Charles Lefebvre

I’ve been working with Steven Larson, playing through the entire collection of Vocalises-Études I published a few years ago. This one, by Charles Lefebvre, was an instant hit with us. We thought it was such a nice piece we decided to record it right then and there. This is one of 30 vocalises in the collection I published. Click here to get the collection!

Concert Variations

Jan Bach

This is probably in the top two pieces ever composed for euphonium. A true tour-de-force for both ensemble members, it ends with a triple (!) fugue. It was such a pleasure to put this one together with Jayoung Hong.

Quarantine Special #3

Marcel Bitsch – Vingt Études, #2

I’ve decided to use the quarantine to learn and record some etudes from a trumpet book, Marcel Bitsch’s fiendishly difficult Vingt Études. Successfully performing this one requires maximum flexibility and manipulation of air flow.

Quarantine Special #2

All is Found from Frozen 2

My daughter and I love the soundtrack of a certain movie featuring a cold princess. This song is a beautiful haunting melody. We recorded this for my daughter’s cousins Cate and Anna, who also love the soundtrack.

Quarantine Special #1

Marcel Bitsch – Vingt Études, #1

I’ve decided to use the quarantine to learn and record some etudes from a trumpet book, Marcel Bitsch’s fiendishly difficult Vingt Études. This one seems to focus on clear articulations and tricky fingers.

Hummingbrrd – Steven Bryant

My most popular commission, by far. This piece has been played hundreds of times all around the world, on a huge variety of instruments and contexts. This piece closes my debut CD, Mirrors.
